Boars’ View’s Founder, Fred Schrader, had long admired wines grown on the Sonoma Coast. In 2007, along with good friends and current owners David and Judy Steiner, they planted their vineyard located within the Fort Ross-Seaview AVA on the West Sonoma Coast.

Winemaker Thomas Rivers Brown selected California Pinot Noir Heritage clones, an array of Calera, Mt. Eden, and Swan clones. Farming just 10 acres, our first vintage in 2010, Boars’ View produces two Pinot Noirs – the “BDR” and “The Coast” Estate Pinot, and our Estate Chardonnay, producing about 1100 cases per year. The wines are a richer expression of the Sonoma Coast, allowing for cellaring and delayed enjoyment.

Boars' View 2019 Pinot Noir, "The Coast," Fort Ross - Seaview, West Sonoma Coast
$125.00

‘Vivacious and exotic, this bold Pinot Noir expresses the best attributes of its coastal, rugged hillside vineyard location. The wine displays a brilliant purple hue in the glass. A crescendo of aromas suggests notes of clove, black licorice, cranberry skin, and mint oil. The silky palate is layered with complex notes of spice-dusted bramble fruit, lavender, kirsch, star anise, and plum reduction. With a mouth-watering acid framework and exotic spice lingering through the long finish, this vintage has all the best qualities this site provides.’ — Thomas Rivers Brown, Winemaker

Boars' View 2020 Pinot Noir, "BDR," Fort Ross - Seaview, West Sonoma Coast
$60.00

The BDR is a blend of Calera, Mt Eden and Swan clones and made to be enjoyable upon release. In the glass, it pours a ripe red color and is pretty, with spicy notes of wild strawberries, woodsy earth, delicate incense, cardamon, and light minty notes lifting from the glass. It’s medium-bodied, with fine tannins, and has a clean, iron-rich mineral finish.

BDR stands for Bohan Dillon Road where the vineyard is located. Traveling along Bohan Dillon Road you pass many incredible vineyards - Peter Michel, Hirsch, Flowers, and Martinelli's Three Sisters to name a few. Vineyards that define and are shining examples of the caliber of wines grown in the Fort Ross - Seaview AVA on the West Sonoma Coast.
